“ Green Woodworking is enjoying a renaissance due to the therapeutic and forgiving nature of unseasoned wood. Green woodworking crafts have been practiced for thousands of years in timber framed buildings, ship building and furniture making but became more refined when it was adopted by the 'Bodgers' in the Chiltern Hills forming the backbone of Windsor chair making ”

Courses:

Teachers and Instructors At the SIW are from backgrounds steeped in the culture of woodwork. At the outset, our instructors and technicians will be experienced in both ‘conventional’ and Green Woodworking and will be on hand to demonstrate, supervise and nurture throughout the courses.

Whilst we aim to start with shorter courses by way of introduction to the basic woodworking skills, our long term aim is to build up the gravity of the more advanced courses in chair-making and sculpture.

We will make regular updates to the website www.greenwoodways.co.uk so keep watching for the latest courses.
